Taking Care of Our Environment: Together We Can Make a Difference

At Aish Cross we believe in protecting the beautiful surroundings our cottages are nestled in. We are committed to implementing sustainable practices and minimizing our environmental impact. Here’s how we’re doing our part:

Eco-Friendly Practices:

  • Waste Reduction:We responsibly dispose of all household waste by employing Devon Contract Waste to segregate and recycle it at their dedicated facility.

  • Energy Efficiency:Our cottages mainly utilize energy-saving LED bulbs, and wherever possible, we rely on solar-powered garden lighting.

  • Sustainable Cleaning:We use eco-friendly cleaning products that are safe for both the environment and your health.

  • Local Support:We source products for our welcome baskets from local vendors, supporting the community and reducing our carbon footprint.

  • Water Conservation:Our cottages feature water-saving toilet flushes and utilize rainwater collected in water butts for garden irrigation.

While we strive for continuous improvement, we currently rely on oil for heating. However, each cottage is well-insulated to maximize heat retention, and individual radiators come equipped with thermostats for efficient temperature control.

You Can Help Too!

We want you to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay, and we believe in gentle reminders rather than strict rules. Here are a few tips to help us minimize our environmental impact together:

Water Conservation:

  • Opt for showers instead of baths, as they use significantly less water.

  • Run washing machines and dishwashers only when they are full to maximize efficiency.

  • When washing dishes by hand, avoid leaving the hot tap running; fill a basin instead.

Reducing Electricity Consumption:

  • Switch off lights in unoccupied rooms.

  • Boil water in the kettle instead of on the stovetop for faster and more energy-efficient heating.

  • Draw curtains and blinds at night to retain heat within the cottage.

  • Adjust the room temperature using the thermostats on radiators, especially when leaving the cottage or in unused rooms.

By working together, we can create a memorable and sustainable holiday experience for you while minimizing our environmental footprint. Thank you for choosing Aish Cross and for joining us in our commitment to protecting the environment.
