Accessibility

At Aish Cross we want to make everyone’s stay as enjoyable as possible, and therefore we describe in as much detail as possible the nature and layout of each of our cottages and gardens.

Detailed individual Access Statements together with photographs are provided when reviewing each cottage. Additionally, we provide a 360-degree video film which gives an excellent interpretation of all the accommodation.

OUR LARGEST COTTAGE – The Coach House/Coach House Family (this incorporates an extra bedroom accessed through one of the other bedrooms, forming a family suite) – is (NSA) M1 accredited, and in most respects the other 2 cottages – The Stable and Hayloft conform to the M1 Standard which we will review with the accreditation assessor at the time of his visit this year. The only significant difference, between the 3 cottages is the Coach House and Stable have downstairs cloakrooms whereas the Hayloft does not.

ISLAND ROSE GARDEN AND BBQ LODGE – NEW FOR 2019!

On a small parcel of land immediately adjacent to our main residence – on the opposite side of the Aish road we have created a secluded and very private rose garden which has a raised gazebo for enjoying the wonderful country views over the valley beyond. Additionally, we have built an indoor BBQ Lodge which can seat up to 15. These facilities will be available by arrangement to our guests.

However, we need to have in place certain safeguards attaching to the use of this new facility: –

  • The Aish Road is busy, and great care should be taken in crossing the road. For this reason, children should not be allowed to use the Island Rose Garden unsupervised, and the gate should be kept closed at all times
  • For those wishing to enjoy the BBQ Lodge and its facilities there will be a separate list of safety and management considerations which will be provide before use.
ANTI – ALLERGENIC BEDDING

In place of our luxury range of bedding we provide, when requested, an anti – allergenic alternative, and by special request we can for those with skin allergies arrange for the bedding to be laundered in an alternative detergent.

TOILETRIES

In each of our bathrooms we supply the exclusive and luxury range of Penhaligon Quercus toiletries – shampoo, shower and hand wash. These are gentle and have a beautiful principal scent of citrus and basil. They are intended for use by ladies and gentlemen!

BABY EQUIPMENT AND SAFETY

All our cottages are ‘baby and child friendly’, and having children and grandchildren ourselves, we have tried to think of everything to ensure their safety and wellbeing – but we are always open to further suggestions.

  • Each cottage has bespoke stair gates at the top and bottom of each staircase
  • Tall furniture has been secured to the wall
  • Storage tins for dishwasher tablets are provided (and kept above baby/child height
  • We have a good range of baby/child safety and other equipment detailed on a separate page of our website
DEVON PRODUCE WELCOME BASKET

Upon arrival you will receive a Devon Welcome Basket of locally sourced produce and either a Devonshire Cream Tea or locally made cup cakes (your choice). Much of the produce is from local ‘Cottage Industry’ which we have tried and tested over a number of years – We hope you enjoy it!

FOOD SHOPPING

There are 3 Supermarkets (Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s, and Asda) within a 10-minute drive, and we are also happy to accept ‘home deliveries’ prior to your arrival – most supermarkets, including Waitrose will provide this service to us.

ACCESSIBILITY ‘WHILST OUT AND ABOUT’

There are many attractions (including nearby Paignton Zoo), beaches, eateries, National Trust Properties etc. which offer good accessibility facilities. We are very happy to ‘check out’ on your behalf any particular accessibility requirement.
